Al Bashayer Camel Festival begins in Adam

MUSCAT: The sixth edition of the annual Al Bashayer Festival for Arab Camel Races started at Al Bashayer Camel Racetrack in the Wilayat of Adam in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate on Monday. The races will continue until February 18.


As many as 75 races will be held over six days. The first day included 25 rounds for a distance of 4 km allocated to the ‘Hagayeg’ category.


HAGAYEG MORNING RACES


The first round was snatched by ‘Batashah’ owned by Aziz al Omrani. In the second round, ‘Al Wadah’ owned by Saeed al Hajri took first place.


‘Mishelah’ owned by Awad al Balushi claimed the third round.


‘Inthar’ won the fourth round, owned by Walid al Rashidi.


The fifth round was claimed by ‘Zahi’ owned by Hazaa al Bartamani.


In the sixth round ‘Maqam’ owned by Ahmed al Derei, clinched the honours.


‘Saba’ owned by Khamis al Mukhaini won the seventh round.


In the eighth round, ‘Wasaif’ owned by Jaber al Wahibi came on top .


‘Al Dabi’, owned by Musabah al Balushi, claimed the ninth round.

In the 10th round, ‘Hamlool’, owned by Hamed al Jahfi, came on top.


‘Kahal’ won the 11th round, owned by Salem al Junaibi.


In the 12th round, ‘Draa’ claimed the top spot, owned by Ali al Maliki. In the 13th round, ‘Haflah’ came on top, owned by Saeed al Harthy. ‘Al Theb’ claimed the 14th round, owned by Abdullah al Hashemi.


‘Kalabah’ was top-ranked in the 15th round, owned by Hammoud al Wahibi.


In the 16th round, ‘Al Astchary’ came on top, owned by Yasser al Wahibi. The 17th round was claimed by 'Slabah', owned by Hamad al Jedili. ‘Majd’, owned by Hamad al Nusairi, won the 18th round.


‘Shwahin’ came on top in the 19th round, owned by Hamad al Jahafi.


HAGAYEG EVENING RACES


In the six evening races that were allocated to the camel ‘Hagayeg’ for a distance of 4 km, the first round


prizes were Al Bashayer Cup and a car. ‘Shaan’ owned by Mohammad al Ketbi (UAE) was ranked first.


In the second round, the prizes were an Al Bashir rifle and a car. ‘Zuman’ won the race for its owner Saeed al Mansoori (UAE).


In the third round with a prize of a car, ‘Al Tayarh’, owned by Hamdan al Jahafi, claimed the top spot.


In the fourth round, ‘Matherah’, owned by Ateeq al Qubaisi snatched first place and a car.


‘Saeb’ owned by Yasir al Harasousi snatched first in the fifth round and a car.


In the sixth round, ‘Al Andalus’ owned by Salloum al Junaibi, came on top to win a car.


The competition continues for the second day with 20 rounds for the category of Al Laqaya, for a distance of 5 km on Wednesday.
