Shihab receives Tanzanian defence chief

MUSCAT: HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, received General Jacob Mkunda, Chief of Defence Forces of Tanzania, and the military delegation accompanying him, in Muscat on Sunday. The meeting reviewed the advanced relations between the two countries. They also exchanged views on a spectrum of topics of mutual interest. The meeting was attended by Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF), and Abdallah Abasi Kilima, Tanzania’s Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman.


General Sultan bin Mohammed al Numani, Minister of the Royal Office, received General Jacob Mkunda and his accompanying delegation. Gen Sultan welcomed the guest who expressed his thanks to the Sultanate of Oman for enhancing means of cooperation to achieve the joint interest between Oman and Tanzania. Cordial conversations were exchanged and matters of common interest were discussed during the meeting. The meeting exchanged viewpoints and discussed a range of military topics of common interest. The meeting was attended by Brigadier Abdulaziz bin Abdullah al Manthri, Assistant SAF Chief of Staff for Operations and Planning, Commodore Issa bin Salim al Owaisi, Assistant SAF Chief of Staff for Administration and Supply and Ambassador Kilima.

General Jacob Mkunda and his accompanying delegation visited the Maritime Security Centre (MSC). During the visit, the guest was accompanied by Vice Admiral Al Raisi and Ambassador Kilima. Upon his arrival at the MSC, the guest was greeted by Rear Admiral Saif bin Nasser al Rahbi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) and Commodore Adil bin Hamoud al Busaidy, Head of the MSC. The guest toured the centre’s facilities and viewed its latest equipment and technologies. He was also briefed on the roles and tasks carried out by the centre within its national duties, as it coordinates with relevant authorities in search and rescue missions for the safety of the maritime environment. — ONA
