Oman claim four medals in Arab taekwondo

MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman has won four medals at the Arab Taekwondo Championship held in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates. The Oman Professional Taekwondo Academy team represented Oman in this tournament.


The championship witnessed wide participation from different counties. 740 male and female players of different age groups participated in the championship, representing more than 20 countries.


The Omani team, led by coach Harib bin Khalfan al Abdali, snatched four medals. In the junior category, Dania bint Salim al Abdaliyah won first place and was crowned with the gold medal. In the youth category, Sabrah bint Moosa al Saltiyah won the bronze medal in girls section, while Nibras bin Mohammed al Touqi won the bronze in boys section. Moataz Ghassan won the silver medal in the junior category.



Lieutenant General Mohammed bin Hilal al Touqi, administrative director of the academy, accompanied the team.


Coach Harib al Abdali expressed his pleasure with this great achievement of the Sultanate's players.


He said that the team has received continuous training to compete in the tournament.


Mohammed bin Hilal al Touqi, Managing Director of the Academy, said: We are happy with the achievements of our players. The tournament was a good experience for the team members, especially those who participated for the first time in foreign tournaments."


He praised the good performance of the players, and wishing them good achievements in the future tournaments.


Oman team is also taking part in the 10th Fujairah International Championship, from February 5 to 8. The two-star tournament sees participation of 1,364 male and female players representing 36 countries.
