International Arab Film Festival inaugurated in Musandam

Muscat: The Minister of Heritage and Tourism, Salim bin Mohammed al Mahrouqi on Saturday inaugurated the fourth edition of the International Arab Film Festival, Cinemana, in Musandam.

The festival has been organized by the Ahli Sidab Club in cooperation with the office of the Governor of Musandam (February 3-8) for scouts and guides in the presence of a number of artists and directors. The festival will be accompanied by the screening of a number of long and short films, in addition to workshops, seminars, and lectures related to cinematic work.

The opening ceremony included a musical performance by the scout band of the Directorate General of Scouts and Girl Guides led by Maestro Juma al Subhi.


Al Mahrouqi said, "The hosting of the festival is important for a thriving movie industry and there is no doubt that Oman with its diverse geographical terrain is an open theater in itself with each governorate having its own different advantages.

The Minister of Heritage and Tourism also honored a group of artists and producers.


The ceremony concluded with the viewing of the Sultana movie, directed by Dr. Khaled Al Zadjali.


Film screenings were launched on Friday evening at Lunar Cinema in Seeb, Muscat Governorate, with a screening of a number of participating films.


The five-day festival will screen more than 120 films from Oman, Syria, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Iran, Bahrain, Serbia, and India, among others, at Lunar Cinema in Seeb and Musandam Sports Club.
