Muscat - The government entities have redoubled their efforts in the area of civil aviation security and facilitation with the Royal Oman Police (ROP) harnessing its resources in all departments to ensure aviation safety and security.
Speaking at the third meeting of the Middle East Regional Aviation Security and Facilitation Group, Eng. Naif bin Ali al Abri, President of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), said the Global Civil Aviation Security Plan seeks to provide the foundation for all stakeholders and ICAO, including national governments, to work together on the common goal of enhancing risk awareness and response, developing security culture, and building human capacities, improving technological resources and promoting innovation and improve oversight and quality assurance and increase cooperation and support.
The meeting added that aviation security challenges indicate the need for more awareness of aviation security, more appropriate resource allocation, promoting security culture, and increased quality control and oversight.
In the area of capacity building, the Civil Aviation Authority has ensured that specialized national capacities are adopted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and has focused on developing a robust security culture.
This meeting supported the regional performance framework for aviation security and facilitation, to reduce the risks related to Aviation Security in the MID Region and promote States and Industry security initiatives in line with ICAO Global Aviation Security Plan (GASeP).
The Sultanate of Oman actively contributes to facilitating redress to international issues and the support offered through hosting various regional and international activities and programs.
