Muscat - The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) will launch an online system in the first quarter of 2023 to apply for a license for organizing adventure tourism trips by travel and tourism offices (adventure tourism operators)

MHT is working in cooperation with Omran and the Office of the Governor of Musandam to implement the zipline project in the Governorate of Musandam, which will give added impetus to adventure tourism activities.

The ministry had also issued a Tender no 8/2022 for the supply and installation of informational and sign boards for mountain tressing paths (73), apart from 30 information boards for mountain paths in the Sultanate of Oman, especially in the eastern and western Hajar mountain range and the Governorate of Muscat.

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism looked at the New Zealand experience in organizing and managing adventure tourism activity, which is one of the best models, as one in three visitors to New Zealand has a relationship with adventure tourism.

There are plans for mountain ambulance and rescue services in cooperation with Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority (CDAA).
