MUSCAT: His Highness Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham al Said announced the launch of a competition to design Oman’s pavilion for Expo 2025 Japan. The contest will be adjudicated by the Bilarab bin Haitham Award (BHA) for Architectural Design in conjunction with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.
“In pursuance of the attention accorded to architecture by the BHA, Omani youth are encouraged to exhibit their skills in designing Oman’s pavilion at Expo 2025 Japan at Osaka,” HH Sayyid Bilarab said.
He affirmed that, in order to allow a larger segment of citizens to participate in this competition, no age restrictions are imposed on specialists in the fields of architecture, design and urban planning. The Participants can take part in the competition individually or collectively in as many as 5-member teams. Local consultation offices can also join the competition.
HH Sayyid Bilarab called on young people who meet the conditions of participation to take the initiative in this national project aimed at enhancing the presence of the Sultanate of Oman on the global map. He hoped that the competition will generate prominent entries worthy of Oman’s pavilion and the Sultanate of Oman’s status among countries of the world.
A technical guide was prepared for this competition. The guide lists conditions and criteria that must be adhered within a specific timeline. The competition was launched on Monday and its results will be announced during the month of February 2023.
An area of 1,763 square metres has been allocated for Oman’s pavilion. The winning project will get a cash prize of RO 10,000.
