MUSCAT: The Ministry of Interior has launched smartphone app Tanmia to enable the members of the municipal councils of the respective governorate to elect the vice-chairman. The app also allows citizens to directly follow the results of the voting.
The Ministry of Interior is improving the application by introducing a number of features that will be announced later.
The launch of the new smartphone app comes as the Ministry of Interior seeks to tap technology to improve its operations. The Ministry of Interior utilised technology at all stages of the elections for the municipal councils’ third term from voter registration to the voting process through Intakhib smartphone app which was approved by the Ministry of Interior as the first online voting mechanism. — ONA
