Muscat: Muscat Municipality has prohibited camping in Al Azaiba and Al Ghubra Beach beaches in the Wilayat of Bausher as those areas are not included in the list of sites marked for camping on the Muscat Municipality website.

Muscat Municipality said it has recorded violations against the owners of camping activities following complaints.

Adventure seekers looking to camp in Muscat now have the option to apply for a permit online.

Muscat Municipality recently issued a circular on the requirements for camping in the governorate, stating that it has created an online portal for individuals wishing to obtain camping permits in the Muscat governorate.

Permits can be obtained by applying through https://eservices.mm.gov.om/Home/Service/MTA and filling out the required form.

The municipality has also developed an interactive map allowing campers to choose from a list of sites in Muscat.

Article 1 of the requirements states that camping is not allowed, whether in a caravan or tent, for more than 48 hours, without obtaining a prior permit from the competent directorate, and paying a security deposit of RO100, which is valid for seven nights.

Article 7 states that anyone who violates the controls and requirements will be punished with an administrative fine of RO200 when camping without a permit, while an administrative fine of RO50 will be imposed in case of non-compliance with any of the rules or regulations for camping.
