Toll in well collapse climbs to four

MUSCAT: With the recovery of two more bodies, the death toll in the well collapse incident in the Wilayat of Al Khabourah has gone up to four.


According to the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority, “referring to the previous communication, and after search efforts in the Falaj stream in Sana’a Bani Ghafir area in the Wilayat of Al Khabourah, the rescue teams of the Civil Defence and Ambulance Department in North Al Batinah Governorate were able to retrieve two more bodies, bringing the number of killed people to four.”


To avoid such incidents, the CDAA has called on institutions, companies and individuals to follow safety procedures during the maintenance of wells and Falaj systems.


“Rescue teams of the CDAA in North Al Batinah Governorate responded to a report of the collapse of earth on workers while they were carrying out the maintenance work of a well in the Wilayat of Al Khabourah,” said CDAA in a recent statement.


As per earlier CDAA reports, two persons were killed after the wall collapse of a well on the workers who were carrying out the maintenance work of the well in the Wilayat of Al Khabourah in North Al Batinah Governorate. Rescue teams are continuing their search operation to locate other missing persons.
