Duqm: The 9-day Amad Duqm 22 will conclude in Duqm (SEZAD) on Friday that included cultural, sports, entertainment, innovation, technology and sustainability events. The event was organised by the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.
Among the activities that attracted visitors were sailing and windsurfing, organised by Oman Sail, which provided visitors with a new experience, in which the spirit of adventure and the fun of challenge are mixed. Amad Duqm 22 also provided diving enthusiasts with an opportunity to experience this sport and explore marine life and enjoy marine biology and the secrets of the sea with professional trainers.
Attractive Paddle
The paddle game with its beautiful courts within Amad Duqm 22 village has witnessed a good turnout from the visitors with everyone is curious to try it. The game has become an attraction for young people to practice it. Omar bin Khalid al Balushi, paddle trainer, said, “Amad Duqm 22 aimed to introduce the game to young people as it is almost similar to the game of tennis. Basically, it is mixture of tennis and squash and it gains the interest of its players because of the ease of its playing rules and the way it is played. At the beginning, we did not expect that the game will receive such an excellent turnout from the visitors of the two courts. This urged us to provide an atmosphere of competitiveness among the youth, thus our participation has succeeded in promoting the sport. Therefore, this sport must be spread among young people in various locations, for example in the capital, Muscat, which has begun to spread widely and has a great turnout recently."
Oman Sky Safari team for paragliding also participated in "Amad Duqm 22" event, where the team provided training sessions and aerial tours for visitors. The team introduced visitors to this sport and familiarised them on how this sport contributes to the country's domestic tourism. The team comprises of Omani professionals including pilots, trainers and experienced ground crew, who received great appreciation from the authorities supervising Amad Duqm 22 event.
