Royal Navy of Oman marks annual day

Al Musannah: The Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) on Thursday celebrated its Annual Day, which falls on November 3 every year in a ceremony held at Said Bin Sultan Naval Base under the auspices of Dr Mohammad bin Nasser bin Ali al Zaabi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defence.


The ceremony witnessed the graduation of a new batch of soldiers. The ceremony began with performing the military salute to the chief guest. Then, the chief guest inspected the first column of the protocol guard.

The chief guest handed over awards to top performers of the batch.


The parade column performed a military show by staging a slow and regular march before the main dais. The RNO Music Band performed a musical show. Then, the participants at the parade took the oath of loyalty and chanted thrice Long Live His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.


Al Zaabi in his statement said, “ We congratulate all members of the Royal Navy of Oman for the celebration of the RNO Day, which falls on November 3 of each year. On this day we recall the great roles that the RNO plays in preserving the security and safety of the territorial waters of the Sultanate of Oman."

The event was attended by Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan's Armed Forces; Major General Matar bin Salim al Balushi, Commander of the Royal Army of Oman; Major General Salim bin Ali al Hosani, Commander of the Royal Guard of Oman; Rear Admiral Saif bin Nasser al Rahbi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman; Major General Musallam bin Mohammad Ja'aboub, Commander of the Sultan’s Special Force; Major General Abdullah bin Ali al Harthy, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs; Major General Air Staff Saleh bin Yahya bin Masoud al Maskari, President of the Strategic and Defence Studies Academy; and Major General Mohammad bin Rabie al Shujaibi, Assistant Chief of the Internal Security Service.


Military attaches of foreign countries, retired senior officers from the Royal Navy of Oman, shaikhs and dignitaries in the governorates of South and North Al Batinah and graduates’ parents were present.
