Ahmed bin Mohammed al Humaidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, on Tuesday, reviewed the Muttrah Tourist Trail project, which was presented through virtual reality technology.
In the presence of Azzan bin Qasim al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism, officials reviewed the tourist trail of the Wilayat of Muttrah using the Metaverse and Scanner Camera technologies to simulate reality in a professional and high-quality manner by transferring the reality of the real path to the virtual world.
It will help the visitors to have an idea of the most prominent tourist attractions and landmarks in Muttrah before visiting it on the ground when it is completed.
Muscat Municipality has begun the implementation stages of the works of the Muttrah Tourist Trail Path Project to promote tourism in the Sultanate of Oman.
When completed, the project will improve the efficiency of various services in the Wilayat, including the sewage system, drainage, broadband, parking, road network, traffic flow, and civil defence services.
The project will preserve the city's cultural identity, preserve the historical position of Muttrah Souq, restore historical buildings and study the possibility of turning some historical sites and castles into tourist attractions.
