Oman Equestrian Federation concluded the first competition of tent pegging season 2022-23, at the tent pegging field at Al Rahba Farm in Barka.
Seventeen teams with 68 riders took part from various government cavalry units and private centres in Oman.
The centres included Zad Al Rakeb in the Wilayat of Ibra, the Al Rahma Equestrian Institute team in the Wilayat of Al Khabourah, the Bahla Stud team and the International Tent Pegging Academy in the Wilayat of Musannah.
The Royal Cavalry emerged the champions in team category. Oman Armoured Team of Oman Army won the individual title through Ali bin Khamis al Balushi.
Maryam bint Mubarak al Balushiyah claimed the women’s championship. Bahla Stud team grabbed singles and team title through Ali bin Salim al Aghbari.
The two days of competition included five rounds for teams and individuals. On the first day with the spear and the second day with the sword, competing in five rounds.
The Royal Cavalry Team 1 dominated the team category through Hamad al Riyami, Hamad al Raisi, Safwan al Maamari, and Saif al Ashkari.
Oman Army won the second place, represented by riders Ahed al Balushi, Mohammad al Siyabi, Ali al Balushi, and Zaid al Saidi. The third place was claimed by Royal Cavalry Team (2), represented by Hamoud al Rawahi, Salem al Amri, Salem al Munori and Ahmed al Mahrouqi.
In the individual category, Oman Army's Ali al Balushi bagged the top honours, Ahmed al Mahrouqi from Royal Cavalry claimed the second spot and Safwan al Maamari from Royal Cavalry finished third.
In the wilayat teams category, the Bahla Stud tent pegging team won the first place, represented by Naser al Mafraji, Majed al Wardi and Yousef al Shukaili. The second place was won by International Academy through Ali al Balushi, Hamid al Manouri, Khalfan al Rawahi and Nasser al Hashimi. The third place was claimed by the Horse Committee Team in the Wilayat of Al Mudhaibi, represented by Sami al Hadadi, Saif al Jabri, Mohammad al Jabri and Al Khattab al Jabri.
In the wilayat individual competitions, Ali al Aghbari from the Bahla Stud team won the first place. Sami al Haddadi from the Horse Committee team in Al Mudhaibi took the second place, and Saif al Jabri from the Horse Committee team finished third.
In the women individual category, Maryam bint Mubarak al Balushiyah of Oman Armoured Team clinched the top spot.
Ghanima bint Abdullah al Shukailiyah from Royal Oman Police was second and Turkiah bint Mahmoud al Balushiyah of Oman Armoured Team finished third.
