The brotherly relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain are a solid example of bonds of love, common interest, and aspirations of the peoples of the two countries for a brighter future.
The relationship that is rooted in history and is linked through the ages, is cohesive and not limited just by agreements, as it is a fabric of brotherhood, history, language, religion, and common Arab destiny.
Further strengthening is the wise leadership in the two countries which provides confidence in advancing the brotherly relations to broader horizons making them distinguished and sobriety at various levels.
Reinforced by this fruitful cooperation, the talks between His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa in Manama, are expected to pave new ways in promoting and developing prospects for joint cooperation in all fields.
As pointed out by Sayyid Faisal bin Hareb al Busaidy, Sultanate of Oman’s Ambassador to Bahrain, the visit and talks will be a window for establishing more bilateral projects to achieve their common goals. This on the other hand will consolidate relations between them and push them towards development and cooperation in line with Oman Vision 2040 and Bahraini Economic Vision 2030.
“The visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to Bahrain and his scheduled meeting with His Majesty King Hamad will bolster joint action and promote relations in diplomatic, economic, cultural and scientific fields, with the two countries set to sign a number of memoranda of understanding”, affirms Sayyid Faisal.
The relations between Oman and Bahrain have gone through many prominent milestones that contributed to their consolidation and advancement.
The establishment of the joint committee between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain embodies the keenness of the two countries to develop bilateral relations in all fields and bring them to the highest levels of coordination and cooperation.
The committee is an important platform for providing feedback to the joint efforts within the framework of the Gulf Cooperation Council, reaching the strategic objectives set by the GCC leaders to achieve coherence and integration among the countries and peoples of the region.
During the seventh session of the Joint Committee held in Manama, the two countries signed a number of memoranda of understanding in addition to the decision on making efforts to promote bilateral cooperation in all political, security, economic, trade, industrial, judicial, and development fields of cooperation.
The MoUs included one in the field of diplomatic studies, research and training, and cooperation in the fields of electricity and renewable energy between the government of the Sultanate of Oman and the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Also included was a memorandum of Understanding between the Consumer Protection Authority in the Sultanate of Oman and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism in the Kingdom of Bahrain in the field of consumer protection.
There have been many mutual official visits, the last of which was the visit of Shaikh Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali, Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura in June this year. These visits and meetings are a means for exchanging information and experiences, and a window for establishing bilateral projects to achieve their common goals in all fields, which consolidate relations between them.
Recently, the two countries' chambers of commerce held a series of meetings on forging Omani-Bahraini partnerships.
The relations between the two countries do not stop at the limit of traditional diplomacy, but rather go beyond it to broader and more comprehensive horizons represented in various types of diplomacy, including cultural diplomacy.
The keenness of the two sides to build cultural bridges was manifested in the first edition of the Bahraini-Omani Fine Arts Exhibition held in the second week of October in Manama representing a unique cultural passion and bringing together the culture and heritage of the two countries through the creativity of the artists of the two countries.
