Muscat: Oman Olympic Committee, represented by the Oman Committee for Women’s Sports and Gender Equality, organised the Oman Challenge programme for women sports leaders in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar from October 4 to 6, in cooperation with the Outward Bound Oman Training Foundation with the support of OQ.
The programme witnessed the participation of many women sports’ leaders, administrators and coaches from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, sports associations and committees, and Women’s Sports Committee. The event focused on strengthening participation in sports by women and providing them with life skills including taking responsibility by taking a new experience in dealing with nature. Training was provided for raising morale and motivating the team, as well as increasing productivity and developing basic skills to work effectively as a team.
Three days of activities in the programme included workshops and miscellaneous tours.
On the first day, they started with the introduction and objectives of the programme, then discussed developing relationships and breaking down barriers in life, and also ensured the practical workshop to solve problems using effective Team Model.
On the second day, the expedition began in the foothills of the Al Jabal Al Akhdhar by hiking and enjoying the landscapes of the mountain and stopping along the way to explore the flora and biodiversity of the mountain. Also, an individual meditation and self-reflection session was conducted for all participants with the aim of connecting with nature and thinking about the experience at 'Oman Challenge', and planning for the future.
The third day dealt with the final challenge to solve problems through debriefing and focus on knowledge transfer, also included course review and challenges that took place, the camping experience, finally the submission of certificates.
