Foreign policy based on truth and justice key to international peace: Oman at UN

New York: The Sultanate of Oman affirmed that it is pursuing a solid policy based on a deep and stable vision and a rich experience extracted from the civilizational heritage and human history, in addition to its consistent foreign policy of standing with truth and justice, promoting positive cooperation, strengthening the bonds of acquaintance and friendship, and contributing to the consolidation of security and international peace.


In a speech before the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly delivered by Ambassador Dr. Mohammed bin Awad al Hassan, the Sultanate of Oman’s permanent representative to the United Nations in New York, the Sultanate affirmed that it is certain that establishing and maintaining peace in the world is necessary for the good of people, and it cannot preserve it unless it is based on firm foundations of justice and cooperation and accord among all nations.



The Sultanate of Oman called on the international community to be tangibly guided by these references and to build partnerships between countries on their basis, and in accordance with unanimous international laws and norms. To achieve peaceful coexistence and to enhance cooperation and economic prosperity.


In his speech, the Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations in New York said that the Sultanate has worked and is still exerting its efforts and constructive cooperation with all parties to achieve peace in Yemen, welcoming the continuation of the truce and appealing to all Yemeni forces to overcome the painful past and focus on formulating a promising future for their country, its unity and security. And its stability on the basis of agreed references, including the Gulf initiative, the outcomes of the Yemeni dialogue, and relevant UN resolutions.


He pointed out that the Sultanate of Oman continues to support the efforts of the US Envoy to Yemen Tim Lenderking to achieve lasting peace in Yemen, through dialogue and calling on all Yemeni parties to meaningful and serious interaction in formulating the roadmap agreed upon by the Yemeni brothers and a political process that preserves Yemen's sovereignty, independence, security and stability.


It affirmed its continuation to provide all possible humanitarian facilities and assistance to the various Yemeni regions and governorates without exception.


Al Hassan stated that solving the Palestinian issue is a fundamental pillar for the stability of the Middle East region, where the conflict has generated many crises, tensions, and acts of violence, stressing the Sultanate of Oman’s belief that the two-state solution in accordance with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative is an urgent and strategic necessity to achieve peace. Permanent mutual trust and positive cooperation between all parties in the region.
