Condolences poured in for writer and columnist Majid al Sulaimani, who passed away after a brief illness on September 18. A retired HR personnel from PDO, Al Sulaimani was a columnist with Oman Observer.
With his career spanning over 40 years, Majid bin Said al Sulaimani served as an HR Senior Professional at PDO for 25 years and later as an HR Consultant at several firms in Oman and other GCC countries.
"He was not only an HR enthusiast, but also known with his policies and ideas introduced during four decades of service. He helped build Omani workforce by providing them educational opportunities as well as catering to their training needs with some of whom holding significant positions in public and private sector companies in Oman today," remembers Syeda Tabinda Bukhari, his daughter-in-law and an official at the Muscat Stock Exchange.
He was also an avid reader and a well-known writer known for his unbiased writing style through the several books he wrote in service of his country and community. In his 'The Arab Manager', Al Sulaimani shared his experience in bridging the gap between expectations and reality of labour market.
"Majid's writings explained the most burning, complex and contemporary issues in a few sentences with unqualified clarity of thought," said Vinod Raghavan, a writer.
He was fondly called 'Magic Majid' due to the words of wisdom in his writing that were a source of comfort to his readers.
In his personal life, he was a kind and generous a friend, brother and doting father. Majid al Sulaimani is survived by three daughters and son Fahd bin Majid al Sulaimani.
