Salalah: The 2nd edition of Tour of Salalah (cycling race) kicked off here on Sunday with the participation of 70 cyclists representing 11 teams of which 7 are Omani teams.
The first round of the Tour of Salalah, which started from Darbat Waterfall to Ayn Ashat (116 km), was won by Emirati cyclist Saif al Kaabi. The second and third positions were bagged by Emirati cyclists Jabir al Mansouri and Khalid Mayouf respectively.
The four-day Tour of Salalah aims to highlight tourism and cultural attractions in the Governorate of Dhofar. The event is staged during the Khareef (monsoon season) where weather is suitable for such activities.
Tomorrow (Monday) sees the start of the second round of the tour, kicking off from Al Baleed Archeological Park and going through Hajeef all the way to Qairoun Hairiti (100 km).
The third round begins on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 from Mirbat Castle, passing through Aqabat Hashir and Tawi Atair all the way to Wadi Darbat (123 km). The Tour of Salalah concludes on Wednesday, September 14, 2022. The final round starts from Khor Rori to the Municipality Recreation Centre (116 km).
