A new tranche of investment options focusing on four key sectors – food security, health, culture and sports – is due to be unveiled next month, a high-level official of Oman’s Vision 2040 programme has revealed.

Aisha al Saifi (pictured), Vice President of the National Investment & Export Development Programme (Nazdaher) – an initiative set up under the auspices of Vision 2040 – said the investment proposals are part of a prodigious pipeline of opportunities, worth an estimated RO 11 billion in total investment, which are being offered up to local and international players over the 2021 – 2025 timeframe.

Al Saifi made the announcement at the MSX Roadshow, hosted by Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX), which concluded at Shangri La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa on Tuesday.

“We aim to facilitate the attraction of RO 11 billion worth of investments by the end of the programme in 2025, into projects that are now distributed across eight sectors with manufacturing and tourism leading those target sectors,” the official said. “Of this target, investments of around RO 4.3 billion have been achieved so far, and we have another RO 6.7 billion to go before the end of 2025.”

In all, a total of 175 projects with a total investment potential of RO 11 billion are being offered up for local and international investment over the 2021 – 2025 timeframe. These are distributed across eight key sectors: Manufacturing (29 per cent); Food Security (17 per cent); Energy (12 per cent); ICT (6 per cent); Logistics (14 per cent); Aviation (1 per cent); Tourism (21 per cent); and Mining (1 per cent).

Significantly, a new wave of proposals will be unveiled for investment next month, according to the official. “As we speak today, our teams are now sprinting with other concerned authorities to ensure that we are working together in fleshing out investment opportunities in four key sectors,” she said. “Right now, we are working closely with the Ministry of Health to ensure that we will be fleshing out investment opportunities in the health sector, as well as culture and sports.”
