Mexico will consider Sultanate of Oman as a base for its football fans arriving to support Mexico in the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar from November 20 to December 18.
Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali al Harthy, Under-Secretary of the Foreign Ministry for Diplomatic Affairs, met Alfonso Zigbe Camarena, Executive Director of Strategy and Public Diplomacy at the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and his accompanying delegation, within an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman, to discuss the possibility of Oman to host the Mexican fans.
Oman Air, official carrier of Oman, had earlier announced the special programme for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, in partnership with the Omran Group, Oman Airports, and official authorities. A fan zone for the World Cup fans will be set up at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. Accommodation will be provided through hotel facilities and the football fans will be shuttled from Muscat and the World Cup stadiums and return.
Oman Air has scheduled daily flights to transport fans between Muscat and Doha with 48 flights per day.
