Muscat: The total number of vehicles in the Sultanate of Oman has gone up to 1,575,677 at the end of July this year, from 1,252,233 at the end of 2021.
According to statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), private vehicles accounted for 79.5 per cent of the total number of vehicles registered, while the number of commercially registered vehicles is 235,497, or 14.9 per cent.
The number of taxi vehicles is 28,250, or 1.8 per cent, the number of rental vehicles is 26,085, or 1.7 per cent, the number of government-registered vehicles is 12,109, and the number of motorbikes is 6,545.
The number of driving education vehicles is 5,837, while the number of vehicles with temporary registration (numbers that are used for a short period for the purposes of pre-registration inspection and export and import vehicles) is 7,337.
The number of agricultural tractors is 1,290 and the number of diplomatic vehicles reached 828.
