Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has unveiled the first-of-a-kind tourism festival in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar (Green Mountain), Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah.
The extravaganza, to be known as Al Jabal Al Akhdar Tourism Festival, is scheduled to take place between August 23 and 27, 2022. It is being organized in cooperation with Office of Governor of Al Dakhiliyah, Office of the Wali of Al Jabal Al Akhdar and “Oman on horseback” team.
The festival features a variety of entertainment and tourism events that shed light on the unique tourist potential of Oman’s Al Jabal Al Akhdar (Green Mountain) area. It will highlight tourist trends, as well as innovative initiatives for encouraging domestic tourism and attracting different segments of visitors.
The festival includes activities like mountain adventures undertaken by horse riders. It will also be an opportunity to highlight the pomegranate season and its significance to the local community.
The event fits with the approaches of Oman Vision 2040, through emphasis on social welfare programmes and balanced economic development for the country’s governorates.
Organized at a height of 3,000 metres above sea level, Al Jabal Al Akhdar Tourism Festival is set to be an exotic annual extravaganza in its own right.
