NIZWA: Nizwa held the annual ceremony to honour those who excelled in the general education diploma in the Creativity Centre for Culture and Innovation Hall in Nizwa on Saturday.
The ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education. The ceremony was organised by the Cultural and Scientific Committee of Nizwa Club in association with the participation of the Nizwa Charitable Team and Shaikh Mansour al Farsi Award for Academic Achievement. The ceremony honoured 61 boys and girls who scored more than 97 per cent in the General Education Diploma exam.
Abdullah bin Mohammad al Abri, Chairman of the Cultural and Scientific Committee at Nizwa Club, said: "The honouring of students of the General Education Diploma is an extension of recognising top performers. It was started by the Scientific Cultural Committee at Nizwa Club in 2016. It will further motivate our bright children." Taqwa bint Hamad bin Abdullah al Kindiyah, gave a speech on behalf of the feted students. She thanked the organisers and expressed pride in the academic excellence.
The ceremony also included a discussion moderated by Dr Hafez bin Ahmed Ambusaidi, Vice-President of the Committee. The topics discussed the importance of achievement for the student's family, the role of the family in motivating the student, and its role in guiding the student to choose a major. It also addressed the students' feelings of achievement and how to start planning, ambition, time management, and prospects after the diploma.
A video of the committee's activities and events in the past years was presented. The seven schools which helped these outstanding students to achieve distinction were also honoured.
