Salalah: Salalah Grand Mall was opened on Thursday. The RO-35 million commercial complex will lend support to the retail sector and entertainment industry.
Salalah Grand Mall has been developed through partnership between the Defence Ministry’s Pension Fund, a number of government investment funds and Al Madina Real Estate company. It has an overall area of 55,000 square metres and a construction area of 103,000 sqm. It comprises a hypermarket and outlets selling top local, regional and international brands.
The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar, and attended by Dr Mohammed bin Nasser al Za'abi, Secretary-General at the Ministry of Defence.
On this occasion, HH Sayyid Marwan said that the Sultanate of Oman witnesses concerted efforts to secure the success of the economic diversification policy and motivate growth across all sectors towards the achievement of Oman Vision 2040’s goals.
He added that plans and initiatives for the improvement of the business climate augmented the volume of investment in many sectors, including the tourism sector, which attracted many projects recently.
The project includes a hypermarket, entertainment games, famous brands, a restaurants lounge, and cafes with stunning views of Salalah
His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, “The Sultanate of Oman enjoys unremitting efforts to achieve economic diversification and to increase the investment in various sectors. The Sultanate of Oman has been making efforts to achieve economic diversification and increase the investment in various sectors, to ensure the achieving of the aspirations of Oman Vision 2040.”
He said that such projects contribute to enhancing the presence of the Governorate of Dhofar on the investment and tourism map of the Sultanate of Oman and the world.
Hamed bin Mohammed bin Hamoud al Wahaibi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Salalah Commercial Complexes Company, stated: “The tourism sector is considered as one of the pillars of economic diversification and the sector is recovering from the slowdown witnessed due to the pandemic.”
Khamis bin Mubark al Kiyumi, Chairman of Al Madina Real Estate, said, “Al Madina Real Estate aims at putting its own mark on real estate development projects in the Sultanate of Oman. The Salalah Grand Mall was developed following the tremendous success of the Muscat Grand Mall, which has encouraged us to repeat the experience for the people of the Dhofar Governorate. The mall opens doors for foreign investments in the retail sector and job opportunities for the people of the governorate. It is worth mentioning that Al Madina Real Estate Company is one of the first real estate development companies in the Sultanate of Oman and is working on several other projects”.
The list of brands that will operate in Salalah Grand Mall includes Lulu Hypermarket.
