Education is a qualification some say but we would all be studying differently if we were taught earlier in life that it is not just a pathway to a career but toward our understanding of the world and life.
Education need not be just about scientific theories and mathematical solutions but also knowing of our aptitude and develop our sense of inquisitiveness in other subjects.
Was playing with a puzzle the other day and it basically asked whether one could spot the leopard and the deer. Depending on what you see would verify whether one is right brained or left brained.
For the life of me I could not spot the tiger. I turned the screen around, squinted at the art work and so on. All I could see was a deer. Wanted to go and ask others around too about what they could see. Thankfully there was no one around.
So I was said to be right brained as per the puzzle.
I had to find out more and this is what habitaction.com says - Right brained can be disorganised, unpredictable and be very good with people. They are spontaneous, creative and more emotional than left brained, often pondering and acting on their feelings. Apparently some of the qualities are being intuitive, good at problem solving and more comfortable with the unknown.
So there is more to mankind. The author, John Gray, wrote about 'Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus'. The characteristics were fascinating and gave us an in depth understanding about the genders. But now here are the brain hemispheres giving us our attributes in the way we think and act and most importantly learn.
So does the world belong to left brainers?
For that we need to understand the qualities of left brainers.
Oh you know them - they are logical, they like to set goals, finish daily goals and has an aptitude for math and science and obviously are well organised.
Well we know one thing we can blame it on brain hemispheres if we are not able to catch up in the maths class or the other way around if it is to do with art.
Can we activate the other hemisphere too and have a balanced outlook? Now that would be a great topic to discuss with an expert. So we will keep that for another day. Meanwhile, I will continue to wonder how much I could be missing out without being able to spot the tiger in the puzzle.
