Muscat, July 19
The National Committee for Emergency Management announced today the deactivation of sub-committees in the Governorates of Muscat, South Al Sharqiyah and North Al Sharqiyah as the tropical depression in the Arabian Sea weakened and receded.
The committee increased the level of alert and preparedness last Sunday in some of the governorates, which were expected to be affected by the tropical depression.
The National Committee for Emergency Management assumed its full responsibility of crisis and emergency management, mobilising all national human and material resources and capabilities necessary to deal with emergency events that require this level of response. The role that this committee plays is very important in order to issue several alerts for people and to keep in update on the effects of the tropical situation.
Two days ago, the analyses of weather maps and numerical forecast maps of the Civil Aviation Authority indicated that the course of the tropical situation in the Arabian Sea has changed and is heading to the northwest of the coast of the Sea of Oman, and the chances of it fading will be near the Pakistani-Iranian coasts. Furthermore, The Sultanate of Oman will be affected by rain clouds of varying intensity. The amount of rain will be between light and medium.
