Muscat: Oman women’s national futsal team suffered to a 6-1 loss against Kuwait team in the opener of the third edition at West Asian Federation Women’s Futsal Championship which is under way in Saudi Arabia until July 24. The match was held in the King Abdullah Sports City Hall in Jeddah on Saturday night.
Oman women’s team entered with high spirits while the opponent Kuwait team tried to score an early goal in the first minutes of the first half. Later, they managed to open the scoring account and dominated in the game. Oman’s only goal in the match scored by Jinat al Musallami.
Oman’s women’s national futsal team head coach, Maha Jounod, said that the team received a defeat from the runner up of the 2nd edition of the GCC Games in Kuwait. “ We had bad luck to begin with a tough game against Kuwait team who have good faces in the squad and the players are together since long time and harmony is at high level among them. Due to lack of technical experience, there were many technical mistakes by the national team players which caused entrance of many goals. Despite the results, it is a good step start for a team with a training schedule of one month only. We are looking forward for the following clash against Saudi Arabia,” she said
