MUSCAT: President Samia Suluhu Hassan of the United Republic of Tanzania arrived in Muscat on Sunday on a three-day official visit. His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik led the welcoming party for the Tanzanian President.
When the jet of President Samia touched ground at the Royal Airport, His Majesty the Sultan met the guest at the foot of the ramp, welcoming her and wishing her and the official delegation accompanying her a pleasant stay in Oman.
Along with His Majesty the Sultan, the Tanzanian President was received by HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs; Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court; Gen Sultan bin Mohammed al Numani, Minister of the Royal Office; Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidy, Minister of Interior; Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister; Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrouqiyah, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (Head of the Mission of Honour); Saud bin Hilal al Shidhani, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Republic of Tanzania; Abdallah Abasi Kilima, Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Sultanate of Oman; and members of the Mission of Honour. Then, His Majesty the Sultan and the Tanzanian President headed to the reception hall, passing through two rows of the guard of honour of the Royal Guard of Oman (RGO).
After a short stay, the motorcade of His Majesty the Sultan and his guest, President Samia Suluhu Hassan, left the Royal Airport heading to Al Alam Palace for an official reception ceremony. Before the arrival of the main vehicle of the motorcade at Al Alam Palace, a squadron of cavalry lined the two sides of the road heading to the gate of the Palace. Upon the arrival of the motorcade of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the entrance of Al Alam Palace, the RGO band played a welcoming tune, to the accompaniment of trumpets, as the motorcade entered the courtyard of Al Alam Palace. His Majesty the Sultan accompanied the President of Tanzania to the Dais of Honour where the Royal Anthem of the United Republic of Tanzania was played, while the artillery fired a 21-gun salute for the guest. Then, His Majesty the Sultan shook hands with members of the official delegation accompanying the President of Tanzania, wishing them a pleasant stay. In her turn, the guest shook hands with some members of the Royal Family, Chairmen of the State Council and Majlis Ash’shura , ministers, commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and the Royal Oman Police (ROP).
After that, His Majesty the Sultan and the guest proceeded to the hall where they took Arabian coffee. President Samia Suluhu Hassan is accompanied during her visit to the Sultanate of Oman by an official delegation comprising January Yusuf Makamba, Minister of Energy; Dr Pindi Chana, Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism; Dr Khalid Salum Mohamed, Minister of Works, Transport and Communications; Ambassador Mbarouk Nassoro Mbarouk, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation; Fatma Rajab, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and East African Cooperation, Abdallah Abasi Kilima, Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Sultanate of Oman and some Tanzanian officials. During the visit, the two leaders will exchange points of view about ways to realise the aspirations of the two countries and elevate joint cooperation towards broader horizons.
