Muscat: The Royal Hospital performed 5 colon and rectal specialized surgical operations at Jalan Bani Bu Ali Hospital. The initiative aims to bring medical services closer to patients and reduce long waiting lists.

The surgeries were performed by Dr Aamed bin Khamis al Araimi, Consultant Colorectal Surgeon and Director of the Department of Surgery at the Royal Hospital, according to the latest treatment standards and surgical protocols.

In comments to ONA, Dr Al Araimi said the step embodies the hospital’s vision to open horizons for cooperation and exchange of experiences at all levels to realize the great roles undertaken by the hospital to serve the community in general and patients in particular.

He noted that the initiative is part of other initiatives undertaken by the Royal Hospital to establish cooperation with referral hospitals in the governorates to conduct various operations. In addition, the department of surgery at the Royal Hospital plays educational and academic roles by transferring experiences and specialists to ensure that the service is provided with high quality and efficiency.

The initiative began some time ago and included several hospitals of Sur, Nizwa and Al Rustaq. Other hospitals will benefit from this initiative in the future and surgical services such as laparoscopic surgery will be introduced, Dr Al Araimi added. — ONA
