Muscat: The Comex 2022 technology exhibition kick started on Monday in its 31st edition at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The 3-day event’s opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr Kahmis Saif al Jabri, Head of Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up unit.
Al Jabri said that the event introduces the latest advanced technologies in line with Oman’s drive towards a digital economy, which is vital to realizing the priorities of Oman Vision 2040.
On his turn, Dr Ali Amer al Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology said that this exhibition coincides with Muscat being picked as the Arab Digital Capital 2022. He also pointed out that the event sees wide participation by government units.
The exhibition, for the first time, includes a designated area for startup companies, comprising 71 firms. This allows the participating companies, which come from all over the Arab World, to display their achievements and services.
An international conference on artificial intelligence (AI) will be held on Tuesday to explore the uses of AI in various fields, as well as the challenges of using it in digital transformation.
Meanwhile, a ceremony will be held this Wednesday to hand over prizes of excellence in technology to honor ministries, government companies and private companies which tremendously advanced technology in Oman. The prizes cover several categories, namely AI, 3D printing, internet of things (IoT), data and automated education and large data.
