Muscat: The General Assembly of the Arab Swimming Federation elected Taha Suleiman al Kishry as chairman of the federation during the meeting which was held in Morocco. Al Kishry elected as president for the third time in a row. Taha is among the experienced figures in the Arab world in the swimming sport as he has many sports positions at the local, regional and international levels.
The position of vice chairman won by Hamid Jassim al Gharib from Kuwait, Khaled Hassan al Khulaifi from Yemen, and from Algeria Ali Khalaf. While members of Board of Directors posts were won by, Ali Youssef Jaber from Qatar, Abdullah al Wahaibi from the UAE, Khaled Abdul Wahed Kabyan from Iraq, Osman Muhammad al Qunain from Libya, Amir Abdel Gawad Ahmed from Egypt, Al Hadi bin Hassan from Tunisia, and Fawaz Zalloum from Palestine.
Al Kishry confirmed that he will work with the elected council members to move forward in implementing the approved plans and programmes made by the Arab National Federations. “ We will target supporting targeted programmes to promote spreading of aquatic sports in Arab countries, supporting programmes for preparing specialised human capabilities, raising the level of their administrative and technical competence to bring them to the international standards, developing and diversifying Arab competitions, championships and courses to raise the competitive capabilities of Arab swimmers, and support programmes and plans directed at swimmers that would enhance their competitive abilities at the global level” he ended.
