MUSCAT: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on Sunday extended his greetings to citizens and residents and the Islamic nation on the occasion of the blessed Eid al Fitr.
A statement issued by the Diwan of Royal Court reads as follows: “Rejoicing over the advent of the blessed Eid al Fitr for the year 1443 AH after Muslims have completed the fasting and observed the prayers during the holy month of Ramadhan and were blessed with the bounties of this holy month, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, extended his greetings to all citizens and residents dwelling on this dear land and the whole Islamic nation on this auspicious occasion.
“Greeting the loyal people of this dear country and the residents, His Majesty hoped they would enjoy a happy Eid holiday, praying to Allah the Almighty for many returns of this blessed occasion and similar ones while they enjoy happiness, well-being and prosperity and continued blessings and bounties on Oman and its people.”
MOON SIGHTING
Earlier, the main committee for sighting the crescent of Shawwal for year 1443 AH held a meeting on Sunday under the chairmanship of Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed al Salmy, Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs.
The committee said that the reports it has received on Sunday evening confirm the sighting of the crescent of Shawwal. Hence, today (Monday) will be the first day of the month of Shawwal and the first day of Eid al Fitr for the year 1443 AH.
The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs extended sincere greetings to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, praying for many returns of this blessed occasion while he enjoys good health, happiness and long life wishing Oman superiority and prosperity and the Arab and Muslim nations blessing and bounties.
GREETINGS
His Majesty received greetings from officials on the occasion of the blessed Eid al Fitr.
The officials expressed their sincere greetings to His Majesty on this auspicious occasion, praying to Allah the Almighty to safeguard His Majesty and grant him long life and wishing him many returns of this blessed occasion while he enjoys blessing and bounties and wishing the Omani people further progress and prosperity under his wise leadership.
HM pardons 304 prison inmates
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Supreme Commander, on Sunday issued a Royal pardon to prison inmates convicted of various cases.
An official source at Royal Oman Police (ROP) said that 304 prison inmates, including 108 non-Omanis, benefited from the Royal pardon.
The Royal pardon was granted by His Majesty on the occasion of the blessed Eid al Fitr in consideration of the families of the inmates.
