The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has launched a promotional campaign coinciding with Oman’s participation in the 59th edition of the Venice Arte Biennale being held from April 23 to November 27.
The campaign aims at promoting the Sultanate of Oman as a tourist destination in the Italian market and attracting visitors to the exhibition using public transport buses at Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE), in front of Venice Santa Lucia Train Station, at Scalzi Bridge, inside water buses and other landmarks and luxury place of the city.
This campaign seeks to promote the Sultanate of Oman as a unique tourist destination that attracts European tourists in general and encourages Italian tourists in particular to explore the beauty of Oman through images reflecting Oman’s heritage, tourism and natural attractions.
Asma al Hajri, Director-General of Tourism Promotion at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, said, “The Sultanate of Oman seeks to attract as many tourists as possible to the country as it is a safe destination for tourists, besides offering avenues for beach stays, adventure and diving.”
She added, “Prior to the pandemic, Italian tourists were among the 726,000 visitors who visited the country in 2019 from Europe, alongside those from Germany, the UK and France.”
Earlier speaking to the Observer, Al Hajri said, “Travel industry is a resilient industry and consumers are looking into experiences when travelling abroad. The Sultanate of Oman is now open and ready to welcome visitors all around the globe, thanks to our government which has relaxed the travel restrictions.”
Al Hajri said that 2019 is the year of benchmark, and the ministry is hoping to go back to the same numbers. Eventually, our target goal is to increase between 30 per cent to 50 per cent in the coming year. “It is possible as the ministry has reopened representative offices in key source markets such as the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Nordic countries and India and with the help of our national carrier Oman Air to increase the air capacity in those markets.”
