Al Ahli team won the Ramadhan Volleyball Championship when they defeated Al Nokhba team in the final at the gymnasium stadium at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah.
The final ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr Mohammed bin Rashid al Maamari, Dean of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Salalah (Salalah College of Technology), in the presence of Musa bin Abdullah al Qasabi, Director-General of the General Directorate of Culture, Sports and Youth in the Governorate of Dhofar.
The volleyball tournament was held from April 6 to 12 with the participation of eight teams, Traviso, Al Ahli, Wadi Naheez, Mirbat, Asif Al Sharq, Al Nokhba, Tawi Ateer and Odeh Abu Ahmed.
The tournament began with a match between Al Ahli and Traviso, and Al Ahli prevailed by two sets to nil.
In the second match, Wadi Naheez beat Mirbat 2-1 and Al Nokhba blanked Asif Al Sharq 2-0 in the third match.
Tawi Ateer beat Odeh Abu Ahmed also by two sets next and Al Nokhba defeated Asif Al Sharq 2-0 in the preliminary matches.
In the semifinals, Al Ahli edged Wadi Naheez 2-1, while Al Nokhba blanked Tawi Ateer 2-0 to enter the final.
In the evenly-fought final, Al Ahli and Al Nokhba players put out their best and Al Ahli were the champions with a 2-1 margin.
The match was moderated by the refereeing team consisting of Ahmed al Yafei, Rashid Salem, Ahmed al Maashani and Wael al Sayed.
