MUSCAT: The Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) has completed preparations to announce the names of the athletes for the Olympic mission of the Olympic Solidarity Committee.

The names of the five athletes representing individual games will be officially announced in the coming days. This is part of the plan to prepare the athletes to earn qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The Oman Olympic Committee had nominated the five athletes in coordination with the sports federations and committees to benefit from the grants provided by the International Olympic Committee. Based on their achievements each athlete will receive support from the Olympic Solidarity Committee from the next period until the final qualifiers for the Paris Olympics. The athletes will be assisted in a training plan aimed at qualifying for the Olympic Games.

The grants provided by the Olympic Solidarity of the International Olympic Committee aim to assist the athletes who are selected and proposed to participate by the National Olympic Committees in the stages of preparation and qualification for the Olympic Games 2024. This programme allows the National Olympic Committees to obtain financial and technical support for an unlimited number of athletes with high level, who are seeking to qualify for the Olympic Games.

Regarding the financial support, the International Olympic Committee has allocated financial support to the players for a programme to prepare and qualify them to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympics, which will continue until the start of the Olympics. There will be continuous follow-up of the technical levels of the athletes through the preparation plans and executive programmes established by their sports federations, technical reports and results achieved at the level of regional, continental and international.

The Olympic Solidarity Committee of the International Olympic Committee provides four support programmes to the National Olympic Committees every four years according to a budget allocated for that, and these programmes are meant for athletes, coaches, Olympic values and for the management of Olympic committees and knowledge exchange.
