The Board of Directors of Sohar Port and Freezone announced the appointment of Emile Hoogsteden (pictured) as the new Chief Executive Officer of Sohar Port, a joint venture of the Port of Rotterdam Authority and ASYAD Group. Emile succeeds Mark Geilenkirchen effective from July 1, 2022, bringing a solid track record of building and managing robust business strategies in the global logistics’ industry. His stellar background will continue to pave the way for more growth opportunities for the port and tenants at Sohar Port.
Under this new leadership, Sohar Port will continue to be one of the fastest-growing Port and Freezone complexes in the world. To date, the company has attracted close to $30 billion in investments by serving diverse industries including metals, raw materials and plastics to name a few. As a future-ready port capable of welcoming the world’s largest container vessels, Sohar Port will take a leading role in achieving the national economic priorities within the Oman Vision 2040, the port added in a press statement.
