Oman beach handball team lost their opening match against the Vietnamese team 2-1 in the eighth Asian Beach Handball Championship currently being held in Teheran until March 28.
In the second match on Wednesday, Oman suffered a similar 2-1 defeat against Qatar.
After losing the first set 15-14, Oman fought back to claim the second set 27-19 but lost the decided 14-12.
This is the second win for Qatar in the championship after blanking Philippines 2-0 in their first match.
Against Vietnam on Tuesday, Oman started with a strong performance in the first half but Vietnam took advantage of the mistakes by Oman to go 4-0. Oman came back after Asaad al Hasani scored two goals, then the Vietnamese team advanced again with good attacks to make it 16-14. In the last phase of the first set, Vietnam took control to win it 24-16.
In the second set, Oman coach Hamoud al Hasani was able to change the game plan and Oman took control.
Oman goalkeeper Hussain al Jabri also rose to the occasion in saving the shots of the Vietnamese players. Oman prevailed 19-8.
In the deciding penalties, Vietnam edged Oman 13-12 to win the match.
