NIZWA: A wood art expo for art teachers from the Directorate of Education in Al Dakhiliyah was opened on Monday in Nizwa Grand Mall.
The three-day exhibition, which concluded on Wednesday, included 45 woodcarving works by various sculptors. It attracted people of all walks of life.
The exhibition was launched by Shaikh Rashid bin Said al Kalbani, Wali of Nizwa, in the presence of Saif bin Mubarak al Julandani, Director-General of Education in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.
Al Julandani said: "These initiatives highlight the talents of art teachers to portray their ideas and concepts in wood. It aims to enhance the capabilities of art teachers. I praise the achievements and works displayed in the exhibition titled Wooden Manifestations. We will continue to support such initiatives.”
The artworks highlight Omani heritage that combines tradition and modernity.
The exhibition follows a training in three-dimensional wooden carving for art teachers. In October last year, Hatim bin Humaid al Shueili presented this training programme. The Department of Educational Supervision in the Directorate of Education in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate implemented it at the Nizwa Cultural Centre.
