The Al Bashayer Annual Camel Festival came to a close in the presence of HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth.
The event also marked the presence of HH Sayyid Asaad bin Tarik al Said and some of the other excellencies.
The event started with an interesting half with a human rider for 12 km (28 participants) as they competed along the race distance in 23 minutes and 50 seconds. ‘Mayas’, which is owned by Amer bin Salim al Zari, snatched the dagger and Land Cruiser.
In the second place was ‘Ltam’ for Al Hmeadi al Amri.
The main races were presented in 4 halfs for 8 km. The first one was for (Thanaya) category for enterprise, where ‘Tahther’ for Royal camel, under the coach Ali al Malki over 14 camels, won the cup and Land Cruiser in 12 minutes and 48 seconds. The second cup and Land Cruiser was managed by ‘Al Shahenya’ from UAE owned by Muhammed al Shamsi out of 25 competitors when he covered the 8km in 12:42.
In ‘Alhool’ category the first half (general) Hamed bin Mohammed al Wahaibi snatched the silver sword and Land Cruiser by ‘Nakoah’ over 25 participants in 12:42.
And the last half in the festival ( golden run) was for enterprises, ‘Tasreh’ was present in the last second to snatch the golden sword and Land Cruiser from 27 camels where he covered the race distance in 12 minutes and 52 seconds.
