MUSCAT: The Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) has set up a round of astounding performances for March 2022, such as the engaging acrobatic performance, classical Donizetti followed by Donizetti for schools and families, a delectable sweet-filled ballet and a dramatic musical legend.

The sensational performance of Teh Dar from the Bamboo Circus of Vietnam is not to be missed. This awe-inspiring acrobatic musical reflects a phenomenal creativity, rooted in the traditions of tribal inhabitants of the southwestern highlands. With athletic flair and humour, fifteen acrobats and five musicians enact a dance using bamboo as the core material for set and sound. It will be held on March 3 and 4.

The March 5 is set to be a perfect day; full of culture, education and fun.

The Donizetti filled weekend of the 10th and 12th March starts with the concert celebrating his greatest works performed by the Armenian State Orchestra and round off with L'Elisir d'Amore – The Factory of Ideas, Donizetti's opera re-envisioned for a young audience. Set in a cough medicine factory, this is an interactive production, weaving themes of resilience in the face of failure with a host of colourful characters. It will be performed by Teatro Sociale di Como.

On March 14, the midweek concert Absolute Music, the Essence of Melody will take place at the House of Musical Arts. Not to be confined to the weekends, music, art, and beauty can be experienced at any time. This concert features Italian Flautist Pierandrea Bonfadini and the Muscat String Quartet.

March inspires creativity in the young and young at heart, featuring the wonderful ballet by Tchaikovsky, The Nutcracker. This magical production is choreographed by Nina Ananiashvili and Alexey Fadeechey, conducted by Alevtina Ioffe, and performed by the State Ballet of Georgia. An enchanted nutcracker doll comes to life for a magical battle between mice and toy soldiers. This event will be held on March 17 and 18.

Finishing the month with a bang, the acclaimed Caracalla Dance Theatre returns to ROHM with FINIQIA, The Legend Lives On. In a tale founded in myth and fable, this promises to be another spectacular performance told through a staging buzzing with striking vibrancy and colour, held on March 24 and 25.

All performances will take place under the guidelines issued by the Supreme Committee Tasked with Tackling Developments Resulting from Coronavirus (Covid-19) Pandemic. Safety measures are in place throughout the opera house to ensure your comfort and safety. -- ONA
