MUSCAT: The Directorate-General for Combating Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, arrested 5 people on charges of drug smuggling in association with an international drug cartel and entering the country illegally. Police recovered a quantity of hashish, crystal meth and morphine from the defendants.
In a separate case, the Coast Guard Police in Dhofar Governorate in cooperation with a citizen foiled an attempt to smuggle more than 1,900 bundles of khat to the country via the sea.
