MUSCAT: Dr Abdullah bin Nasser al Harrasi, Minister of Information, Chairman of the Main Committee of Muscat International Book Fair 2022, on Saturday opened a photo exhibition organised by the Kuwait Al Arabi magazine on the sidelines of the Muscat International Book Fair.
Al Harrasi and the attendees were briefed about the photographs and its topics by Ibrahim al Mulaifi, Editor-in-Chief of Al Arabi magazine.
The exhibition showcases pictures from the Sultanate of Oman since the early 70s depicting themes such as people, place and culture reflecting the blessed Renaissance led by late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
In comments to Oman News Agency (ONA) during the exhibition opening, the minister said: “There is no doubt that Al Arabi magazine is one of the most important Arab cultural magazines that brought culture closer to the Arab reader in general using simple but deep language that can easily reach the general public. Al Arabi is not an elite magazine but rather a magazine that suits all segments of readers regardless of their cultural background and educational level.”
The minister of information pointed out that the Sultanate of Oman, with its history, culture, civilisational uniqueness, renaissance, and lifestyles was present in many of the articles published by the magazine throughout its long history. He added that Al Arabi magazine had, and is still having, a strong presence among Omani readers and intellectuals. This exhibition, the minister said, offers an overview of the topics and articles published by Al Arabi magazine to its readers about the Sultanate of Oman. — ONA
