The entry submitted by Muscat Electricity Distribution Company (MEDC) in the Wiyakum competition of Nama Group, aimed at promoting a culture of volunteering among employees of the group’s subsidiaries, won the second place.
The 6th edition of Wiyakum, organised annually by the Group, was held recently under the auspices of Nama Group CEO Eng Omar Khalfan al Wahaibi, with a number of executive managers in attendance as well.
The entry, proposing a mountain walking and biking route in Al-Ansab of Wilayat Bawsher, was submitted by MEDC staff members Eng Ibrahim al Hasani and Mahmoud al Shibli, was ranked the third among a number of projects that were qualified for the final evaluation stage of the competition.
This 5km route is very close to the city and easily accessible, overlooking Al-Ansab area from the north, Lajfar village from the west and Falaj Al-Sham town from the southern side. The route is a multidisciplinary, as it can be used for mountain biking, walking and jogging. The “Wiyakum” programme is part of the Group’s efforts to achieve its sustainability policy, which aims at fostering a culture of sustainable volunteering among its staff, while encouraging them to get involved in sustainability initiatives.
