Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman national team returned with five medals, two gold, two silver and one bronze, after a fierce and strong competition with the Saudi Arabia team, which was tied in the overall total by 226 points for each team.
The competition was decided after a play-off, and the Oman national reserve team won the second place (silver medal) in the doubles rounds and the third place (bronze medal) at the individual level. Hamad bin Saif al Raisi had also bagged the gold medal and first place in the individual sword competitions in the last day of the UAE President’s Cup for tent-pegging in Abu Dhabi.
In the event held at Boudheib International Endurance Village, 14 teams participated in the event namely the Sultanate of Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, three teams from Dubai and eight teams from Boudheib Club, organized by the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation.
Our national team managed to get the (silver medal) and the second place by the contestant Daoud bin Ajib Al-Mushrafi, the competitor Hamad bin Saif Al-Raisi, the competitor Zaid bin Hamoud Al-Saidi and the coach Muhammad bin Jumaa Al-Malki. When the Saudi team came first and won the (gold medal), followed by the contestant Rashid Al-Marri and the contestant Samer Ali, while the UAE team won the third place and the (bronze medal), and was represented by the contestant Saif bin Saeed Al-Junaibi and the contestant Muhammad Bin Saleh Al-Hammadi.
The last day saw eight rounds, three rounds of individual swordsmanship, where the first place and the gold medal was won by Saudi Arabia by the contestant Rashid Al-Marri with 18 points, and the second place by the UAE and the silver medal by the contestant Malik Al-Maamari by 12 points.
The contestant Mohammed bin Saleh Al Hammadi of the UAE team won the third place and the bronze medal by 12 points (time difference).
The competition continued on the doubles rounds for the sword through three round. The first place and gold medal (was achieved by the KSA through the contestant Rashid Al-Marri and Samer Ali with 32 points.
The second place (silver medal) for the UAE was clinched by the contestants Fahd and Qassem Al-Shamri by 29.5 points. The third place and bronze medal also went to the UAE team, represented by Ateeq and Jaber, with 28 points.
The last competition in two rounds was to cut two lemons and a stake with the sword. Our national team managed to achieve the first place and gold medal through Hamad bin Saif al Raisi with 18 points. The UAE came in second place (silver medal) by the time difference by Saeed Al Khaili with 18 points. The third (bronze medal) was awarded to the UAE team, with the time difference by the contestant Abdullah al Shamsi by 18 points.
