MUSCAT: Oman rally driver Zakariya al Amri on Subaru Impreza N14 ended Qatar International Rally in a high when he clinched the second place in Group N with his co-driver Mohamed al Amri.
Zakariya also finished fifth overall after strong performance and pace during 10 stages of the rally.
Zakariya expressed happiness after a tough outing in Losail, Qatar.
"I did my best in the two-day rally. It was very hard terrain and difficult to navigate. My team has worked hard to realise this second place in Group N," Al Amri said.
During the rally, Zakaria pointed out that he pushed as much as he can on the first day.
"We pushed hard on day one with caution as the stage was hard in some area and slippery in other places. We had some mechanical problems but we overcame these issues in time. Then we got clear by better timing in our group in front of Abu Shurfa and Abu Jamoos from Jordan and behind Mishari al Thufiari who won the group title."
“I am really thankful to my team and the mechanics for their support and hard work. Special thanks goes to Oman United Insurance and Al Faiha Real Estate for their support to my attendance in the Merc competition this year,” Al Amri concluded.
