Ireland dashed Oman’s hopes of a comeback in the quadrangular T20 series with a resounding nine-wicket win at the Oman Cricket Academy ground in Al Amerat here on Saturday.


With the second loss in two matches, Oman are now left with a last match against the UAE in the series ahead of the ICC World T20 qualifiers from February 18 to 25 at the same venue.


Batting first, Oman were all out for 137 in 19.2 overs.


Only Shoaib Khan (57), Ayaan Khan (22) and Naseem Khushi (24) were in two digits as rest of the batters fell to some quality bowling from Ireland.


Simi Singh was the pick of the bowlers with 3-9 in 4 overs. Mark Adair took 3 wickets for 25.


In reply, Ireland were hardly challenged as star batter Paul Stirling (51 from 42 balls) and captain Andie Balbirnie (75 not out from 49 balls) led a confident chase.


Gareth Delany remained not out at 12 as Ireland reached 140-1 in 17.1 overs.


UAE PREVAIL


In the first match of the day, UAE comfortably beat Nepal by 25 runs.


Chirag Suri continued his brilliant form from the ODI series against Oman to emerge the man of the match with a 53-ball 84 not out that involved five boundaries and five sixers.


Rohan Mustafa hit 49 runs from 35 balls after opener Muhammad Waseem made 22 runs as UAE posted a good total of 192 for three wickets.


Nepal won the toss and opted to bowl first.


In reply, Nepal chase ended at 167 for 5 wickets in 20 overs.


Dipendra Singh Airee continued his fine form but could carry on till the end and got out after a well-made 41 from 33 balls.


Aasif Sheikh (34) and Lokesh (33) also contributed with the bat.


Rohan Mustafa and Kashif Daud took two wickets apiece for the UAE.


On Sunday, UAE will take on Ireland. Both teams have two points each.
