MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, took part in the first senior officials’ session in the Food and Agriculture Organization’s (FAO) 36th Regional Conference for Near East and North Africa, hosted by Iraq.

Oman’s delegation was headed in the online conference by Dr Ahmed bin Nasser al Bakri, the Ministry’s Under-Secretary for Agriculture.

The conference is an opportunity to exchange opinions on directives and regional priorities which affect FAO’s action. The session discussed regional and international policies and other regulatory matters to transform agricultural food systems towards achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs). It also reviewed the role of women in the Near East and North Africa in these areas. — ONA
