MUSCAT: Oman International Hospital (OIH), Oman’s newest multi, super-specialty hospital that soft-opened in May 2021, was officially inaugurated on the Thursday, January 6, 2022 by Dr Ahmed Mohammed al Saidi, Minister of Health, in the presence of Abdulsalam Mohammed al Murshidi, Executive President of Oman Investment Authority, Her Highness Basma al Said, Shaikha Amal Suhail Bahwan, Chairperson of Al Afia Healthcare Development and Investment company and Vice Chairperson of Suhail Bahwan Group Holding, several ambassadors and distinguished guests.
Oman International Hospital is a joint venture by Suhail Bahwan Group Holding, Oman Brunei Investment Company and IdealMed GHS, Portugal.
The high-profile event started off with a ceremonial ribbon cutting by the chief guest Dr Ahmed Mohammed al Saidi, Minister of Health declaring the hospital fully open with all its services and treatments available to the people of the Sultanate of Oman.
Addressing the distinguished gathering, Shaikha Amal Suhail Bahwan Chairperson of Al Afia Healthcare Development and Investment company and Vice Chairperson of Suhail Bahwan Group Holding said, “Just a few years ago, Oman International Hospital was a dream by a group of visionaries to set up a world class, comprehensive healthcare institution for the people of Oman, according to the highest international standards, to be a milestone in the development of the health sector in the Sultanate of Oman in order to contribute to the achievement of visions and objectives of our contemporary renaissance under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.” She further added, “Oman International Hospital was not conceived to be just another hospital but a holistic healthcare destination that offers world class standard in its treatment, facilities and services in Oman and in the region. That’s why we have brought together highly qualified and experienced medical team from Oman as well as from across the World. We have also equipped the hospital with state-of-the art equipment and cutting-edge technology so that our guests can get the best healthcare service.”

Dr José Alexandre Cunha presented Shaikha Amal Suhail Bahwan with a key as a symbolic mark that the Hospital is now ready to operate in full capacity.
The guests were treated to an audio-visual presentation of the hospital’s state-of-the-art facilities, world class services, high quality treatments, cutting edge technology, global expertise and other unique features. Later, the distinguished guests were taken on a tour of the hospital visiting the Centers of Excellence, Hybrid Operation Theater, medical spa and other facilities.
