Sultanate of Oman and Cyprus review bilateral relations

MUSCAT: Sayyid Badr Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, received here on Monday Kornelios Korneliou, Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Republic of Cyprus.


The two sides reviewed the bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Cyprus and discussed several matters of common interest.


The meeting was attended by Shaikh Khalifa Ali al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Diplomatic Affairs, Andreas Nikolaides, Ambassador of Cyprus to the Sultanate of Oman and officials from both sides.


POLITICAL TALKS


Meanwhile, the second round of political talks between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Cyprus was held at the general diwan of the Foreign Ministry here on Monday.


The Omani side was chaired by Shaikh Khalifa Ali al Harthy, Undersecretary for Diplomatic Affairs at the Foreign Ministry, while Kornelios Korneliou, Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Republic of Cyprus, chaired his country's side.



The session reviewed the bilateral relations between the two countries as the two sides stressed their keenness to continue promoting them in deferent fields. The two sides also exchanged views on various international and regional issues of common interest.


The session was also attended by Shaikh Ahmed Salim al Shanfari, Ambassador of Oman to Cyprus, Andreas Nikolaides, Ambassador of Cyprus to the Sultanate of Oman and officials from both sides.


VISIT TO MSC


Kornelios Korneliou and his delegation visited the Maritime Security Center (MSC) at Al Murtafaa Garrison on Monday.


They were received by Rear Admiral Saif Nasser al Rahbi, Commander of Royal Navy of Oman (RNO), head of the Maritime Security Committee.


The guest toured the center’s facilities and viewed its latest equipment and technologies. He was also briefed on the roles and tasks carried out by the center within its national duties, as it coordinates with relevant authorities in search and rescue missions for the safety of the maritime environment. -- ONA
